From today’s Scripture: “As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 12:12

On this day of Our Lady of Sorrows, this scripture reminds me of what happened during the flood caused by Hurricane Helene that hit our community. During this tragic time, our community became one; it wasn’t Anglos or Hispanics, Catholics or Protestants; we were all one community united by sorrow and hope. We prayed together as one body in Christ, seeking refuge in God’s mercy.

Let us pray: God, today we pray for all the victims of the flood caused by Hurricane Helene, and that we continue to see each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
