First Monday of Advent

Daily Reflection

First Monday of Advent

Prayerfully approach Jesus.

From today’s Scripture: “He said to him, ‘I will come and cure him.’”—(Mt. 8:7)

The centurion, in faith, approaches Jesus to intercede for his ill servant. His faith is so deep that he knows that Jesus has only to say the word for healing to take place.

Every day we encounter or hear of people who are physically, psychologically and spiritually ill. We, like the centurion, can prayerfully approach Jesus and ask him to heal them. Perhaps we, too, need to be healed of something in our own life. Is our faith deep enough to name it and to trust in Jesus’ healing touch?

Let us pray: Lord help me to see the struggles of others and the inner struggles within myself that need healing. Lord, I ask for the grace needed to be a prayerful intercessor for the people you place in my life.
