From today’s Scripture: “…nor shall they train for war again.”—Is 2:4
Peace and harmony are themes woven throughout Advent. The coming of the Prince of Peace should usher in an era where that is the norm—everywhere. And yet, the news of the day—every day—seems to mock that hope as well as Christ’s title. As I write this, a quick search listed 27 armed conflicts in our world, most of which never make our US news.
Isaiah’s vision depicts a world where war is so unthinkable, there is no need to even prepare for it! Contrast that to the realization that much of humanity and its resources are spent in preventing, preparing for, or carrying out war. The Messiah has a better way.
Let us pray: Lord, bless the peacemakers, and count me in their number.
