Feast of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus

Ordinary Time Header-2

From today’s Scripture: “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few”  — Luke 10:2

When I hear that the harvest is abundant and the laborers are few, I think of so many people who need hope, someone to listen to, and companionship. There are tired hearts, wounded stories, young people searching for meaning, families who need support, and people who may have felt alone for a very long time.

A mission does not always consist of doing great things or going far away. Many times, it begins in the place where God has already placed me: in a conversation, in a community, in a family, on a work team, or alongside someone who needs to be seen with mercy.

Saint Thérèse understood that small things done with great love can become a true mission. Listening attentively, accompanying someone patiently, serving joyfully, and supporting someone through their journey also proclaim the Gospel. I do not have to save anyone or solve every problem. I am called to be a presence that helps others discover that God sees them, loves them, and does not abandon them. Who needs me today to make God’s love present through listening, a word, or a concrete gesture?

Let us pray: Lord, here I am. Show me the harvest you have placed before me. Give me the sensitivity to recognize those who need to be listened to, accompanied, or loved. Teach me to serve without wanting to control the process and to trust that you make every seed grow. Amen.
