From today’s Scripture: “After the crippled man had been cured, while Peter and John were still speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees confronted them, disturbed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.”—Acts 4:1-2
Peter and John: what a transformation! Would we even recognize them if not for the fact that they are named? What changed? It was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit who transformed fearful fishermen into fearless witnesses continues to be poured out today. Let us pray each day for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us and upon our Church, that our fear may be turned into faith, our silence into proclamation, and our weakness into courage as we boldly proclaim Jesus Christ to the world.
Let us pray: Come Holy Ghost, Creator blest, and in our hearts take up thy rest…that we too may be recognized as companions of Jesus.
