ADVENT REFLECTION: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

Fr Dan Advent 4

The end of the advent season is quickly approaching, and I would invite you to continue to dream, to dream about the kingdom of God, to dream about a world that perhaps, oftentimes, is not the one in which we live: a world of hope, a world of joy, a world of forgiveness, a world where there is mercy, a world where there is reconciliation and restoration.

The angel Gabriel came to Mary and said that she was going to give birth to a son, a son of divine origin. And Mary, being somewhat skeptical, understandably says, “How can this be?” The angel Gabriel says to Mary, remember, nothing is impossible with God.

That’s a message that I’d like for us to dream about today. There is nothing that is impossible with God.

When Bartimaeus was asked by Jesus, what is it that you want? He said he was a blind man. Remember? He said, I want to see.

We want to see. We want to dream like Bartimaeus, that one day we would see with the eyes of God. We want to be like the woman in the well, who wants to understand exactly who God is, and drink of water that will never allow us to thirst again, to eat of food, or we will never be hungry again.

And so as we come to the conclusion of this Advent season, it is up to each of us to dream and dream big, to dream without boundaries, to dream along the divine because the Word will become flesh, the Word will dwell in our midst, and the world will be touched by this Word, this Jesus Christ. He humbly comes to us and offers himself and his very life that he might show us the light of the world, and the way to live.

Pray for the grace, the grace of each of us to dream big. Pray for the grace of the spirit to come upon us in a way that refreshes and renews and opens our eyes, our ears to our very hearts, to the message of the Savior, this newborn Christ.

And remember, nothing is impossible with God. Nothing is impossible with God.

May God bless you and all of your family as you continue your advent journey.
