From today’s Scripture: “…if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” — Mt 24:43-44
Here, Jesus is teaching on the Mount of Olives about being watchful for his return. He uses the analogy of the “thief” to show that we cannot predict the timing. The key phrase here is, “So too, you also must be prepared.” This means to live in a state of readiness: faithfulness, watchfulness, doing what God asks now, because you do not get a warning. The bottom line here is doing good and avoiding evil, praying, and worshipping God.
Let us pray: Thank you, Father, for the love you have for us. Help us to be faithful until the end of our lives.
