From today’s Scripture: “On those who waver, have mercy; save others by snatching them out of the fire; on others have mercy with fear, abhorring even the outer garment stained by the flesh.”—Jude 22-23
Usually when we see a small child about to touch a hot stove, we respond quickly, “No.” Do we respond the same way when we see an adult about to do something dangerous, especially to their soul? Are we willing to snatch others from the fires of hell? How many times has a video appeared on social media documenting a violent action, but no one is seen trying to stop it? Yet we are called to discourage people from getting drunk, from disrespecting their bodies or that of others, and from engaging in gossip. It seems so obvious, but it requires great courage.
Let us pray: Lord, may I not waver in my mercy toward others but be willing to help others not commit harm to themselves or others.
