From today’s Scripture: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” —Lk 6:36

Sometimes when I am disappointed in my own failings, I project that disappointment onto others through my judgemental, condemning, or better-than-thou attitude. Instead of treating them as I want to be treated, I try dragging them down into my sinfulness.

Once I recognize how merciful God has been with me toward my mistakes, I can be merciful to others. I need to seek forgiveness first and then celebrate that by lifting others up. Celebrate their accomplishments, and forgive their mistakes.

Let us pray: Jesus, let your words inspire me so that I may stop judging and condemning others but instead am open to share your merciful love with those that I encounter today.
