Third Tuesday in Ordinary Time

OT Winter Email Header 2026-3

From today’s Scripture: “As soon as the bearers of the ark of the LORD had advanced six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.”—2 Sam 6:13

Since we Glenmarians are primary evangelizers, we find ourselves using our church house for various things. For instance, this Advent we used our mission church house at St. John Paul II in Rutledge for dances and plays during the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As priest I find myself answering various questions about the tabernacle. One friend asked me, why should we cover Jesus when we are dancing for his mother? Or another opined, “Father Joe, let us cover Jesus as we do our plays because the tabernacle represents the burning bush of Moses.”

The beauty of our mission lies in the encounter with God’s people. This encounter left me wondering what my sacred space is. A space where God speaks to me so loud and so real. For me this space is in front of the Tabernacle. It is so reverent a space, where my savior lies waiting for me. Since time immemorial God chose special areas where he can encounter his people. David knew that and so, as soon as he could, he sacrificed to God in front of the ark of the covenant which foreshadowed the modern day tabernacle.

What is your sacred space?

Let us pray: Almighty and ever living God, I do believe that you are everywhere and that since time immemorial you have chosen some special places to encounter your loving people. Lord, I pray that you may increase my faith to experience your presence in everything and especially in divine areas set apart for your worship.
