St. John Chrysostom

OT Summer Email Header 2025-3

From today’s Scripture: “But for that reason I was mercifully treated, so that in me, as the foremost, Christ Jesus might display all his patience as an example for those who would come to believe in him for everlasting life.”—1 Tim 1:16

Could it be that God wants to be in fellowship with us now? One of the most brilliant places in the Bible is the story of the Son of God becoming human—Jesus coming to us! He dwelt among us. He spoke one of our languages. He wore our kind of clothes. He ate our kind of food. He became involved in our dilemma about whether we wash our hands before our meals or not.

St. Paul says, “He became all things to all persons that many may be saved.” Truthfully, most of us are greatly blessed, and our decision is whether we keep those blessings to ourselves or whether we give those blessings away. This means having to be creative and sometimes stretches us in directions we would not otherwise go. Yet Jesus’ hands are always stretched out for us. Where are we going? Where are we looking? Where are we?

Let us pray: Lord, grant us the passion for outreach with you, in you, and through you.
