From today’s Scripture: “Know that the LORD is God; he made us, his we are; his people, the flock he tends.”—Ps 100:3
Sometimes, when I read or hear a psalm like this, I connect with the words, but I miss the profound meaning of who I am and why I am here. This psalm tells me I am not alone, I can never be alone because I belong to God.
When I was a child I was very aware of my family and that I belonged to my family. They loved me and would take care of me in all circumstances. That gave me peace and joy, but also the responsibility of living like a member of the family. However, I didn’t realize that they, too, were limited.
Here God tells me that I belong to him, am one of his people, and that he takes care of me. God is the foundation of my constant joy.
Let us pray: God, thank you for loving me so completely. Help me surrender myself to you.
