Sts. Joachim & Anne

OT Summer Email Header 2025-3

From today’s Scripture: “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field…He replied, ‘No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them.’”—Mt 13:24, 29

The Kingdom man knew how to survey his farm. He immediately knew someone from outside his workers sowed the weeds. He also knew he could lose his whole planting, weeds and wheat, if he pulled the wheat and weeds at the same time.

The wheat represents those who are assured they will be in the Kingdom, one with Jesus. The weeds are not in the kingdom. They represent those who have chosen not to be one with Jesus and all he stands for. Right now we don’t know who will be the wheat and who the weeds are. Remember the man crucified with Jesus: “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” Those watching thought he was the “weeds.”

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, help me not to judge others but to assume they are “wheat.” Help me to pray for all and bless Jesus for his judgments out of love.
