From today’s Scripture: “Martha, Martha you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it shall not be taken away from her.” —Lk 10:41-42

I think Jesus is making the point that all the worrying in the world cannot change cultural things.

It seems we need people who spent their lives in prayer and fasting to overcome evil. But we need others who take action to overcome evil. Martin Luther King prayed and then went out to challenge evil.

Let us pray: Lord, in a complex world we ask your help to have the wisdom we need to confront evil. We bless and pray for our enemies and friends. Both need your presence to save our world and to bring peace. Help us to pray quietly before you.
