From today’s Scripture: “Take delight in the LORD, and he will grant you your heart’s requests.” —Ps 37:4

What is a heart’s request? Most likely it’s not a Big Mac! Our heart’s request goes beyond our simple needs, all of the things that we ask of each other daily. A heart’s request is the longing of love, the very life of God speaking within us. It’s not a petition to win the lottery, or any other thing that would advance us materially. The Lord will grant our heart’s requests because they are the requests of love.

Let us pray: Lord, help me today to find perspective. Help me sort out what I need from what I want; give me a prayerful heart that learns to ask you for what I need.
