From today’s Scripture: “Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given us.”—Rom 5:3-5
Most, if not all of us, experience afflictions and sufferings in our lives. Whether this be from illness, disappointments, betrayals, or emotional and physical harm. Yet, as people of faith, we are never without hope. Patient endurance of the sufferings of life, borne in faith, leads to Christian character.
Jesus accepted his cross, suffered death, but rose on the third day. Thus, we have the knowledge that new life is waiting for each of us. The depth of the love of Jesus, proven by his suffering, gives us hope that we will endure and discover rebirth. We just have to walk daily in faith, trusting the path of hope and love that leads to new life.
Let us pray: O Lord, help us endure our suffering, trusting in love that leads us to hope.
