From today’s Scripture: “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” —Jn 10:10
Food, water, shelter, work, family, purpose, love – all of these are essential for life. This is why the Church, in her mission efforts, works to attend to these basic needs for all people.
But what is required for the fullness of life? The Christian tradition, following today’s Gospel, has always understood that the fullness of life comes from being in a personal, sacramental relationship with Jesus. And so, Christians everywhere, in their missionary work, while trying to meet the basic needs of all people, proclaim and present Jesus to others as the source of the fullness of life.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, inspire my heart with your grace so that I might see how important it is to present to the world the source of the fullness of life, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
