From today’s Scripture: “As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”—Acts 4:31
Today’s first readings, like the readings throughout the Easter Season, is from the Acts of the Apostles. The events and actions of the early Chrisitan community inspire me to reflect on my current situation.
As a Glenmarian assigned to a rural mission county in Eastern North Carolina, I can relate to the need of the community to gather to pray which we do here on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday in our small mission parish. While our church crowd may not be big, there is never a shortage of people and needs to pray for. The community’s faithfulness brings us together and our love and concern for each other deepens our relationships and keeps us together trying to grow closer to God.
Let us pray: Loving God, increase your Spirit of love within our parish community so that our actions may boldly proclaim your resurrected Son to those we encounter this day.
