From today’s Scripture: “So Jesus said to them, ‘When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM…’”—Jn 8:28
What a simple answer to what can seem to be the most complex question. Who are you? And yet, this is Jesus’ response. There is absolutely no doubt, when questioned, that he knows not only who he is but whose he is.
I wonder if I were to grasp my identity with such clarity…would the race to prove myself dissipate? Or the need to please others go away? Whatever part of your spirit or self doubt needs to be reminded of your true identity, look to the one who taught us with such wisdom. We are God’s. And that alone suffices.
Let us pray: Lord God, let me rest in the peace of knowing that I am yours.
