Fourth Tuesday of Lent

Lent Email Header 2025-3

From today’s Scripture: “When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been ill for a long time, he said to him, ‘Do you want to be well?’”—Jn 5:6

If Jesus asked you this today, what would your answer be? The obvious answer may be yes, but it is harder to live out. Sin is an illness in our spiritual lives. It fractures our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with God. Sometimes sin can be comfortable to the point where we rationalize that it’s not that bad or we might not be able to see it as an illness in our lives anymore. But Jesus offers us the chance to be made well again and again. Each time we go to confession, our sins are wiped clean. We are made whole.

This Lent is the perfect opportunity to go to Jesus in our illness and receive his grace to be made well.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, help me today to see the areas of my life that need to be touched by your healing grace. Give me the courage to desire to be made well by you.
