From today’s Scripture: “All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God.”—Ps 98:3

We all face the deadening temptation of not remembering the wonderful gifts we have received from God. For example, when we are baptized, we are taken into the family of God, becoming his daughter or his Son and are promised we will be resurrected from the dead and live with him. If we don’t remember these gifts, we will be tempted to think that we are alone, that God is distant and does not care about us. This is a negative image of God.

To counteract this temptation, I need to spend time remembering and treasuring some of the many gifts I have received directly from God or that God has given me through another. I need to do that to live in reality.

Let us pray: Father, you have showered me with your saving gifts. I thank you for them, and I ask you to keep me more alert to them every day.
