From today’s Scripture: “Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.”—Lk 12:37
Look at how Jesus defines the role of the master and servant. The idea that the master will gird himself and wait on the servant is so countercultural during Jesus’ time—and during our time! In a strange way, it explains how we sometimes receive more than we give in our service to one another.
Let us pray: Creator God, let me stay vigilant to the work of the Gospel. Let me remember that I am to be of service to my sisters and brothers.
