26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

From today’s Scripture: “Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.”—Mk 9:41

We all share a common humanity. Yet, going about my daily tasks, I sometimes feel I am trying to force a round peg into a square hole.

That sometimes is my experience of faith, too. I am trying to be a faithful disciple and I am trying to do what is right, just, and holy, but some days it does not seem to work. It is almost like I am trying the round peg and square hole again. While other days it all seems to be coming up roses and is working. Why is that?

I attribute it to my ability to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. When I allow things to coalesce together and not force them, I am always amazed at the power of God to work toward the good.

Let us pray: Today, Lord, help me to get out of the way and let you be in charge.
