4th Saturday of Easter

Daily Reflection

4th Saturday of Easter

Listen to Jesus.

From today’s Scripture: “‘You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing.’”Jn 15:14-15

The first part of today’s Gospel is the familiar—Jesus telling us to love others as he has loved us. But as I move through the reading, the line that jumps out to me is, “You are my friends. Often, I have found myself viewing Jesus as the referee waiting to blow the whistle on my transgressions! I forget that he is my friend and is there to help me. At the beginning of this week, we were reminded that our relationship with Jesus depends on us listening to Jesus. If we don’t listen to our friend, who will we listen to?

Let us pray: Lord, I pray that I can accept the close friendship that you offer me.
