From today’s Scripture: “‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ He said, ‘Who are you, sir?’ The reply came, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.’…There was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias and the Lord said to him in a vision, ‘Ananias.’ He answered, ‘Here I am, Lord.’”—Acts 9:4-5, 10-11
Notice the two very opposite responses to God’s call. Saul (soon to become Paul) says “Who are you?” While Ananias says: “Here I am Lord.” The difference is that Saul is not yet a disciple and does not know the Lord’s voice. Ananias is a disciple and recognizes the Lord’s voice.
Let us pray: Help me to always listen for and recognize your voice, O Lord.
