From today’s Scripture: “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit…But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.’”—1 Cor 12:4, 11

Paul taught that spiritual gifts (healing, prophecy, deeds, faith, discernment and more) are from the Spirit, manifest the Spirit, and are beneficial. Usually when we receive a gift from someone who loves us, the only work involved is unwrapping the package! Gifts from the Spirit however invite the recipients to act on their gifts so that someone will benefit. I have benefitted from the work done by Mother Teresa, Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton, and others in response to the gifts the Spirit gave them. Whose spiritual gifts have benefitted you?   

Let us pray: Lord, thank you for the spiritual gifts you have manifested in others for our collective benefit. I ask that, if it be your wish to offer me a gift, I may be open to recognize it and work so that others may benefit.
