29th Thursday in Ordinary Time

Who is the Messiah?

From today’s Scripture: “‘I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!’”—Luke 12:49

Jesus explains to his disciples he has come to set the earth on fire. This is one of more challenging Gospel readings in the Bible. The disciples had their own preconceptions of who and what the Messiah was supposed to be. Jesus shows us the true scope of his mission on earth—to transform everyone and everything.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, let me be blazing with the light of the Gospel, and with the joy of sharing it, in actions and word, with everyone I meet today.
