28th Tuesday in Ordinary Time

God-given opportunities

From today’s Scripture: “The Lord said to him, ‘Oh, you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. You fools!’”—Luke 11:39-40

Go Jesus! How we sometimes yearn to throw words like these! But as it is not for us to see into each other’s hearts and intentions, it is not for us to condemn. Jesus commissioned each and every one of us to go out and be witnesses of his victory.

How is God giving us opportunities to use our voice, our status, our privilege to speak up for others that need assistance? How can we hold others accountable in ways that will not estrange them? How do we hold ourselves accountable for the times our faith slips, and then, make amends?

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, you show us many ways to love. Teach us how to be loving witnesses to others of what is right. And help us to trust in your justice when our patience is tested.
