From today’s Scripture: “At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation, and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here.” — Luke 11:31

Like the queen of Sheba, many people go to great lengths and great expense to see a celebrity. The average distance traveled to see a concert is 144 miles round trip, and the average cost of a ticket is $133 to $144.

There is one greater than Solomon who gives not the fleeting happiness of an entertainment, but everlasting joy. It is not necessary to go to great lengths or expense to see him. He is as near as the nearest Catholic Church. He is present at every Mass and in every tabernacle. There is no charge for admission.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, assist me with grace that I may value no passing happiness above the joy of your Presence. Amen.
