28th Monday in Ordinary Time

Our Lady of the Fields-3 (1)

From today’s Scripture: “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”—Alleluia verse

The holy family had to flee their homeland. Our Blessed Mother, whose devotion in Glenmary is Our Lady of the Fields, has become a place of refuge for many immigrants. She cries with and hears the cries of immigrants who are forced to leave their homeland, as she was once forced to leave her own. She embraces the toils and sufferings of the immigrant people. She becomes their safe refuge when there is no other. She comforts them in their miseries when their cries seem to fall on deaf ears. She wipes away their tears when they have lost all strength and resilience to do so.

Let us pray: Dear Jesus, open the closed walls of my heart. Help me to see your face in the face of immigrants near and far. Put the warmth of your Blessed Mother in my heart today.

Today’s author is Glenmary Brother Thomas Nguyen, currently assigned in Martin County, North Carolina, for his advanced missionary formation.
