Daily Reflection

24th Saturday in Ordinary Time

Are we listening?

From today’s Scripture: “‘Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.’”—Luke 8:8

Jesus had just finished preaching the parable of seed falling on various situations and not being productive while some seed fell on good ground and produced abundantly. This admonition at the end meant he expected to see results.

I think sometimes we hear what Jesus teaches and are impressed by it, but do not put it into practice. As he told the people at the end of the Sermon on the Mount, anyone who just listens to what I say and does not act on it is a fool. When have you heard Jesus tell you something, and you have not yet put it into practice?

Let us pray: Jesus, I’m sorry for not putting some of your teaching into practice. Please give me the grace to do so.
