From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said to him, ‘If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’” — Matthew 19:22
In today’s scripture, the young man asks, “What do I still lack?” This is a tough question to ask Jesus in my prayer today; but to be a follower, I too can ask, “What do I still lack?” Jesus’ response to the young man is to “go, sell what you have and give to the poor.” If I sincerely ask Jesus the same question, I am assured that I will also be challenged to reflect on what in my life is keeping me from God. Reading a daily reflection online is a good start to the day, but it may not be enough. Let me listen closely to Jesus and put my trust in him.
Let us pray: Loving God, today is a good day for me to reflect on what else is hindering me from trusting entirely in you. Shine your light on those areas of my life so that I can begin the process of detaching myself from them.
