18th Thursday in Ordinary Time

Daily Reflection

18th Thursday in Ordinary Time

Help me to understand.

From today’s Scripture: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to bring us to this wretched place? It has no grain, or figs, or vines, or pomegranates; and there is no water to drink.”Num 20:5

Why have you brought us to this moment in time, Lord? Why are we facing these challenges, this reality, this situation that demands moving out of our comfort zones? We might be facing a difficult situation with a member of our family that demands a change in our relationship. We might be struggling with how to heal the divisions we experience in our neighborhoods, churches, or civic communities. Why, Lord, have you placed me in this place, at this time, confronting this desert? Give me living water.

Let us pray: Lord, help me in these few moments of silence to hear your voice calling me to become more generous, more creative, more attentive to your presence in this wilderness.
