From today’s Scripture: “Moses said: ‘Listen to me, you rebels! Are we to bring water for you out of this rock?’ Then, raising his hand, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff, and water gushed out in abundance for the people and their livestock to drink.” —Num 20:10-11
The Israelites in the desert were in a dire situation. There was no water for them or for their livestock. Without water, death was imminent. They looked at reality and had a clear understanding of what they faced. But they overlooked who was with them in the desert. When life is difficult, it is easy to presume that it will not change. It takes courage and strength to trust in God. God is with us in our struggles and difficulties. And it requires patience, because God’s response is not always immediate.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to trust you more fully today. Please give me the life-giving water, which is Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
