12th Monday in Ordinary Time

Headlights

From today’s Scripture: “Stop judging, that you may not be judged.”—Mt 7:1

Judging comes easily, charity…not so much. When put to the test I find that when I can pray the prayer, “O God be merciful to me, a sinner,” I do so much better. I’m more at peace focusing on my own shortcomings. There’s an old saying: “Faults are like car headlights: the other guy’s always look brighter.”

Let us pray: Lord, help me to remember that bringing on your Kingdom in my world starts with me. Help me replace judgment with the words of St. Francis de Sales: “Where you find no love, put love—then you’ll find love.”
