From today’s Scripture: “You disregard God’s commandments but cling to human tradition.”—Mk 7:8

How often do we try to change or nudge the Church’s teachings to fit our own needs? Probably more than we’d ever care to admit. Jesus reminds us today that the commandments were given to us by a loving God, not as punishment, but to guide us toward a life of fulfillment.

Let us pray: As I encounter teachings that are sometimes difficult to understand, help me to remember that Jesus’ message of love and redemption will always guide me onto the right path.
