From today’s Scripture: “Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I, the LORD, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go.”—Is 48:17
It is nearing the end of the week and the beginning of a hectic season of holiday festivities. Yet the Church, in her wisdom, has given us the season of Advent which is really about simplicity and slowing down.
I wonder how many of us already feel the pull of the words that Jesus gives us to rest in him.
We simply must turn our hearts, slow our minds, and stop our doing to enter that space. The arms of the Savior are open and waiting for you to stop, take a moment and breathe in his presence, and recognize the stark serenity of this season.
Let us pray: Lord, help me be still today and know that you are near.
