From today’s Scripture: “Then I acknowledged my sin to you, my guilt I covered not. I said, ‘I confess my faults to the LORD,’ and you took away the guilt of my sin.”—Ps 32:5
I confess that I do not go to the sacrament of Reconciliation as often as I should. I am always nervous to go, but afterward I feel such grace. What a beautiful thing it is that God forgives all of our sins. He knows every hair on our head, every mean thought that passes through our minds, yet he forgives us completely when we ask for it with contrition. As Pope Francis once said, “God never ever tires of forgiving us! … He never tires of forgiving, but at times we get tired of asking for forgiveness.”
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for your mercy. Teach me how to be merciful and offer forgiveness to others as you are merciful and forgiving to me.
