From today’s Scripture: “Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy!”—Ps 90:14
St. Augustine is famous for many words he said, but my favorite are these: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” If we are resting in God, we are filled with God’s love. Then we can indeed be singing for joy. It is also St. Augustine who is attributed to saying that to sing is to pray twice. Music enhances and complements prayer. Worship involves the deeper experience of emotion and spirit that comes with singing for joy. So whether you are blessed or not with musical skills, go and make a joyful noise unto the Lord (Ps 100:1).
Let us pray: Come, Lord, and fill my restless heart with your love. Help me to sing with joy and praise you with all my being. Amen! Alleluia!
