From today’s Scripture: “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”—Lk 21:3-4
In today’s Gospel, Jesus highlights the value of the sacrifice of those who, even though they are poor, give from what they need and not from what they have in excess. God’s accounting is very different from ours.
What we give doesn’t have to be money or material possessions. Often, dedicating our time to someone who is depressed is worth more than gold. We always have something to give.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to remember that I always have something to give, even if I don’t believe it. And like the widow, inspire me to share generously.
