From today’s Scripture: “Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials…”—Jas 1:2
Mother Teresa likely wasn’t the only saint who said, “I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle; I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.” A priest friend says, “If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.” (There’s a lot to be said for survival!) I think the challenge St. James presents is finding joy in the struggles. For me, the joy comes after the struggle — if I’ve managed to weather it. How about you?
Let us pray: Lord, help me to realize the trials I face are just what I need to draw closer to you.
