Second Wednesday of Advent

“They will soar as with eagles’ wings; they will run and not grow weary.”

Today’s Reading: Is 40:25-31
“…They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint….”

Reflection: Hope is something we all are looking for during these days of pandemic. We’re hoping for our turn to get the vaccine, we’re hoping it works, we’re hoping we don’t get sick in the meantime. Those hopes might seem shallow, but they point us to the deepest hope, the one Advent is all about. Our hope is in the Lord, Isaiah tells us. We hope to soar as eagles, to run and not grow weary. We hope for the fullness of life.

Let us pray: Loving God, you know my heart and its way. Place the seed of hope in my heart. Nurture it with your grace. Help me to love without fear.
