From today’s Scripture: “He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him.”—Lk 15:20

The toughest part of “The Prodigal Son” parable is selecting a portion to highlight. Of all the Biblical stories, this is the one that continually unpacks its richness to me. The image of this father, lifting his robes so he could actually run, is not a very dignified look for a man of his standing. Well, standing/schmanding; dignity meant nothing in comparison to the very sight of his son, whom I suspect the father wondered many times, is he even alive? You don’t have to be a parent to appreciate this story, just a human being. There is no greater description of our God.

Let us pray: Lord, if I ever—EVER—doubt your love for me, please grant me the wisdom to read this parable once more.
