From today’s Scripture: “Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.” —Mt 21:43

The parable in today’s Scripture about the vineyard landowner and the tenants is again directed to the religious leaders in Jesus’ time. “When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them.” It might be easy for us to believe that today’s message is meant for someone else. We could say to ourselves, “I can think of someone else who really needs to hear this message.” Or “I have almost everything in my life in order, so certainly God will not be asking any more of me at this time.” We become complacent which will lead us to thinking we are OK when we are not.

To find God in all things, we need to keep searching and not give up — and certainly not like the tenants who eventually outright rejected the landowner’s son.

Let us pray: Loving God, you sent your own son to come into this world to die for me. Nourish me so that I don’t fall into complacency but continually seek to grow closer to you.
