Presentation of the Lord

OT Winter Email Header 2026-3

From today’s Scripture: “He had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.”—Heb 2:17-18

I remember bringing my month-old firstborn son to the Church to be baptized, like Mary brought Jesus to the Temple. Two mothers who did not know what lie ahead for their babies. So many possibilities, dreams for their future, hopes for their success. It helps me to remember Jesus as the little boy as well as the adult, because he allowed himself to live the full human experience.

Let us pray: Lord, help me to remember more than your fall under the weight of the cross. Help me to honor even your scraped knee as a child as part of your human experience.
