Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity

He remains constant

From today’s Scripture: “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”—Mt 28:20

Jesus’ last words in the Gospel of Matthew are a command and a comfort. First he gives the Apostles the Great Commission: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded of you.” This commission he gives to us as well, to proclaim the Good News. This is our mission in our homes, in our workplaces, and in our communities.

Then he says, “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” To me, these final words bring comfort. No matter what stage of life I’m in or what is happening in the world, Jesus is the same. He remains constant in his love, in his mercy, and in his authority over the universe. As we go out to the world proclaiming the Good News, may we be reassured in the foundation of our faith that is Jesus Christ.

Let us pray: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
