From today’s Scripture: “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”—Lk 5:12
Jesus is all about healing. I find intriguing the instances like this one when he cures someone’s suffering only after the person asks. That dynamic indicates to me Jesus’ respect for the person he is encountering. He doesn’t overwhelm. He engages.
“Ask.” “Knock.” “Seek.” Jesus seems to desire our participation in our own healing and growth. This is a good attitude for those of us involved in social ministry. Do we inquire how we can help someone in need or assume that we already know? Do we engage sufferers in their own healing and victims of injustice in finding the solution?
Let us pray: Lord, help me to be an instrument of your healing and empowering love.
