From today’s Scripture: “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”—Mt 5:12

A sign in my office reads: “We will go before God to be judged and he’ll ask: ‘Where are your wounds?’ And we will say, ‘We have no wounds.’ And God will ask, ‘Was nothing worth fighting for?’”

Today’s Gospel is the Beatitudes, Jesus’ loving reminder of the blessings in our lives, even during difficult times. We have an amazing reward in heaven. Though the journey there may be full of character tests, both ones we fail and pass, God offers us full forgiveness, mercy, and everlasting life. All we have to do is allow Jesus in our lives, in our hearts, and our everyday actions.

Let us pray: Thank you, Jesus, for your mercy and blessings in my life. Thank you for your sacrifice, so that I might have eternal life in heaven.
