From today’s Scripture: “Day after day the churches grew stronger in faith and increased in number.”—Acts 16:5
Paul begins his second missionary journey by revisiting communities to whom he had originally proclaimed the word of the Lord. He is guided by the Holy Spirit, and we are told that these churches are growing in faith and number. The Holy Spirit then turns Paul’s attention to the larger world. As Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit was an active presence in growing the early Church — an active presence that continues to this day.
I was privileged to attend the National Eucharistic Congress and experience the joyful faith of 60,000 people proudly on display. This year at Easter Vigil, Glenmary’s missions joined Churches around the world in welcoming people of all ages to the Catholic faith. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, the Gospel continues to be shared, and people continue to say “Yes, I do believe.” By living our faith openly with joy we may inspire someone else to do the same.
Let us pray: My God, may my life be a testament of your goodness and mercy, helping to bring more believers to you.
