From today’s Scripture: “For I was hungry and you gave me food.”—Mt 25:35

The 25th chapter of Matthew’s Gospel provides the roadmap for living our life in preparation for Jesus’ return. Ministries are named for it. Hymns echo its words. It ends with Jesus’ powerful reminder that we encounter him every day in the faces of those who are hungry, thirsty, suffering. We are held responsible for caring for the least of our brothers and sisters and will be judged by how we answer this call to action, this call to love.

Let us pray: Dear Lord, help me recognize your presence in the suffering of those around me and respond with acts of love and compassion. Amen.
